Govt. MahaprabhuVallabhacharya P.G.College was established by "BagbaharaSikshaSamiti" at Mahasamund in the year 1965. On Sep 11, 1981, this college was taken over by the State Government.New phase of development of this college started after the takeover by the government. Currently the college is also serving as the lead and nodal college of all the colleges in Mahasamund district.
At present, graduation in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Application as well as post-graduation in Hindi, English, Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, Commerce, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, Zoology and Physics are also taught in this college. This college is leading and recognized research center (In subjects of Hindi and Political Science) in Mahasamund District.
Besides these courses DCA, PGDCA and PGDYEP (Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Education and Philosophy)courses are also run through Self-financing scheme. Visualizing the importance of Computer Literacy, Computer Education is available to every student.
For overall personality development of students, the institution regularly conducts Sports, activities of NCC and NSS of Girls and Boys Unit, Youth Red-Cross and Cultural Activities. Huge Auditorium, Open Gym, playground, computer lab, girls hostel and library building are also available in this college. To ensure safe and secured atmosphere in the college campus CCTV camera are installed.
